Panel: Emerging Social and Technology Trends
Laura Moorhead, a senior editor at Wired, starts one of the first panels off with a vacuous question about how society and technology have intersected in the past decade, and as the panelists struggle through the question without adding much substance it becomes evident that they and most everyone in the audience is not as interested in the subject as they are in slowly settling into the conference, with not much movement in the audience and the muted clicking of laptop keyboards coming from those assembled behind the rows of chairs on the floor next to the power outlets.
A few minutes on the subject of place, widgets, and mash ups and I’m in the press lounge watching someone get a massage (yes, that’s what’s happening — it’s not as nasty as it looks, although this was my first view of it before I knew what was going on).
