Acquisitions and Mergers, Buzzing Companies

Libsyn Acquired by Wizzard Software

Word on the BizWire street is that Libsyn and its 5,000 podcasters are being sucked up by Wizzard Software. Wizzard does the text-to-speech and speech recognition bit that undoubtedly appears attractive to podcast aggregation Web sites (and podcast hosting sites, apparently), but as of yet has not been successfully integrated in another podcast-related Web service. I’m guessing Libsyn could soon be offering, as a service to its podcasters and their audiences, an audio transcript search tool that could make finding subject matter within podcasts a bit easier for consumers.

Wizzard announced a $1.75 million private placement just before this news — would that be enough to purchase Libsyn?
