U.K. Radio: Signal Fading

Things aren’t looking good for radio in the UK, as Ofcom, the U.K.’s ‘communication regulator’ (note to self: figure out how to score that job), is looking to snub the multitude of AM and FM stations looking for license renewal. The spectrum AM and FM now occupy would potentially go toward digital radio, although with new spacemates from other media such as mobile TV, which means current radio programming may not completely get the axe. But this surely means the new lineup of stations leading the digital revolution may be different from what UK listeners are used to, and after 100 years of dominance over this part of the spectrum, and with many of the old dogs until recently content with the status quo, that is at least moderately significant.
