Going Dormant?
This site may be going down (or staying down?) — not sure yet. I’m still preoccupied with the Megapolis Festival (getting ready to announce the lineup and ticketing) and when I’m not doing that I actually try to *gasp* break away from the computer for some real world time. Speaking of, I just returned from Thailand and will post some photos. So maybe this ting ain’t all dat dead yet.

Busy, Holidays, Sickness = Time Going By
For some reason I feel the need to redeem myself after not posting for a month. I guess that’s how it goes during times of preoccupation.
Been busy with the Megapolis Festival, even if the website doesn’t reflect that. We’re locking up presenters, performers, venues, sponsorships, and even getting a new logo. We might try to beef up the website if we have the resources to do so. Let me know (justing at gmail dot com) if you’re interested in helping with that or know someone who would be.
Other than that I entertained some houseguests, saw a foreign-living friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in 3.5 years, traveled home in time to catch a string of sicknesses, and booked a trip to Thailand. Plus a bit of radio, jamming, and field recording (with a performance).
Now back to my hibernation den (sickness be kicked).

CBS Radio Buys Launchcast, Looking for Streaming Audio Monopoly
CBS Radio, who already owns Last.FM, is purchasing Launchcast, founded in 1994 by former record executive Dave Goldberg, from Yahoo!. It seems Yahoo! is selling because it can’t keep up with the ridiculous royalty rates implemented by Soundexchange earlier this year. Instead companies who stream music from many fringe artists and have reinvigorated (saved?) the music industry are forced to give up their businesses to major media behemoths who can afford those royalties. I assume that means more unsightly advertisements from people you don’t want to hear from. Painful news indeed.
